Annie & Jack - A Treehouse Session

This Family has asked me to photograph their beloved tree house. The tree is dying and most likely will not be able to be saved.

This session was so much fun... so many giggles and laughter! I have been photographing this Family since Jack was a newborn! Both kids were part of my One Year Package program AND I photographed Annie's birth at Family Beginnings in Dayton, Ohio.

Matt & Alex say I DO - Cincinnati Wedding Photographer

Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE photographing a small intimate wedding! Civil Services, Elopements and small services are my jam!

I got married myself in a very small ceremony in a tiny church on Mount Adams, with just a handful of people in attendance! And it was PERFECT!

Some of my favorites can be viewed HERE. But now I can also add Matt & Alex's small wedding to my favorite small wedding list!

Alex and Matt got married at Coffee Peddlar's (yes a coffee shop!) in Harrison, Ohio. The venue was perfect for a small ceremony.

And how gorgeous is Alex in that dress? Loooooove!

Charlotte's In Home Studio Session - Cincinnati Photographer

I can't believe I haven't posted Charlotte's in home Newborn session yet. Such a special session as her two big doggie siblings were present for the session.

So much I love about this session... But Charlotte on the beautiful green couch with her very large doggie brother, her Dad holding her in his favorite chair and of course the details in her amazing nursery, are probably my favorites.

In Home sessions are amazing because they have a very personal touch! Something you can't get in the studio! BUT there are drawbacks to in home sessions as well...

1. I need good natural light! That doesn't mean turning on every lamp in the house. I need lots of windows with good lighting during the session.

2. I can't possibly bring all of my props, blankets, beanbag, lighting kit, backdrop stand etc. So a in home session is usually more natural, non posing pictures

3. I need lot's of room for all of the things that I listed in #2.

If you don't think you have all of these 3 items listed but are really wanting a in home newborn session, contact me and we will talk everything over!

If you are really wanting more posed baby pictures like Emery's studio session (click HERE to see these) than I would highly suggest doing them in my studio.

Charlotte's in home session was perfect! We had perfect lighting and lot's of room plus her parents were really looking for a more natural type of session.

Emery's Fresh 48 Session

Since I posted Emery's Newborn session yesterday, I figured I would post her Fresh 48 session as well.

I love, love, love Fresh 48 session!

Fresh 48's are when I come in when baby is still in the hospital, so baby is "brand new".

Sometimes a family asks me to wait in the waiting room during delivery, so I can walk right in when baby is born, but most parents wait till baby is about 24 hours old and everyone is rested and showered.

Emery's Fresh 48 session was special because her grandparents were present to and we took some pictures of them too.

I would love to photograph your Fresh 48 session! All Fresh 48 sessions purchased with a Newborn session receive a $100 discount!

Emery - Cincinnati Studio Newborn Photographer

I photographed Emery's Fresh 48 session a few weeks ago and I was so excited when her parents booked me for her Newborn session as well.

Studio Newborn sessions are my favorite! I have everything I need, I know the lighting in my studio... my studio has THE best natural light and it makes everything go very smoothly.

Emery did amazing. She was well fed, warm and sleepy! Three key elements for a good Newborn session.

To book your Newborn session, either in your home or in my downtown photography studio, please contact me through my website www.sonjabphotography.com or email me at sonja.mcgill@yahoo.com. I am looking forward hearing from you and customizing your newborn session.

I specialize in Newborn and Family Photography in the Greater Cincinnati area.

3 Lakes Trip - Vermont - Part 4

Let me start out by saying: Vermont, has been forever on my bucket list.

When we originally started planning this trip and looked on the map I realized we would be only a few hours away from my friend’s lake cabin.

I met this friend 7-8 year ago on an online photography workshop. We, and many more from the workshop have kept in touch and met up a few times over the years.

She invited us with open arms and we couldn’t have been more excited about going!

We left Lake Placid from the swimming hole, stopped one more time at our favorite pizza place… Johnny’s Pizza and drove to Vermont.

Vermont doesn’t have many highways so most of our drive was on country roads. Usually we just want t get to a place but we loved that change in pace and Vermont is so gorgeous that it made the drive by go so fast!

Plus, the boys slept most of the way (a very rare occasion these days)!

We arrived at Maidstone Lake and felt welcome from the second we got out of the car! We received a warm welcome and a tour of camp.

Our plan for the weekend was to relax, relax and relax. The kids were free to do what they wanted to do. They went swimming, fishing, played pool, watched TV, learned all about throwing knives, played with other kids, got to drive the Pontoon boat etc. etc.…  Scot and I just sat back and relaxed… did I mention relaxing yet?

Saturday, Scot and I went into a nearby town and bought everything to make Schnitzel and German potato salad as a thank you.

We were treated to a really fun scavenger hunt that led us into a cave to find the missing puzzle piece.

After a very adventurous trip, camp at Maidstone Lake was exactly was we needed!

Sadly, we had to leave after just two nights. We had a 16-hour drive ahead of us which is even a lot for us! We stopped for the night near Utica and the next morning I surprised the boys with a stop at Walmart for a DVD player. We had 9 more hours to go that day and the cheap DVD player + Redbox movies got us through that.

We also made sure to stop on our way home in Vermont at a small road side market to buy lots of Maple Syrup.

We will never forget Maidstone Lake and our friends there… the boys are already planning a trip back and I am sure we will be back soon!

Sadly this was the end of our 2017 Summer Road Trip.

You can click here to read about PART 1, PART 2, and PART 3 of our trip!

(S)Miles turns 2 - Cincinnati Child Photographer

Miles was one of my One Year Package babies... Unfortunately we had to skip one of his sessions because of a bad case of eczema. But that was no problem as all since we used the missed session for his 2 year pictures!

I have said it and will say it again... I love my One Year Package babies so much since I get to watch them grow.

I can honestly say I have never had a bad session with Miles. He is the most relaxed, content and happy little dude! I might need to nickname him Smiles ;)

Treehouse Session - Cincinnati Family Photographer

This family hired me to take pictures of their beloved treehouse. They found out that the tree is sick and might have to be cut down.

I had so much fun with this fun loving family. Lots of giggles and laughs during the session, which made the session go by so fast and easy.
